Tipping in Jamaica
Customary: 10%–15%. 10% is often on the bill. 15% where it is not.
At restaurants
What is customary: A share of the bill, at any size
Worked example
On a JMD10,000.00 bill, 10% is JMD1,000.00, so you would hand over JMD11,000.00.
Tour guides
On a “free” walking tour, the tip is the fare: about JMD2,000.00 per person.
On a paid tour, 10%–15% of the price on top.
Expected. All-inclusive resorts often say no tipping — guides on outside tours still expect it.
The money
Jamaica uses the Jamaican Dollar (JMD). Today 1 GBP is 213.90 JMD.
Tipping in other countries
Customs vary by region, by venue and over time. Use your judgement and your eyes.
