Tipping in Poland
Customary: 10%–15%. 10% is normal. Never say "thank you" as you hand over money — it means keep the change.
At restaurants
What is customary: A share of the bill, at any size
Worked example
On a zł200.00 bill, 10% is zł20.00, so you would hand over zł220.00.
Tour guides
On a “free” walking tour, the tip is the fare: about zł50.00 per person.
On a paid tour, 10% of the price on top.
Free walking tours are a Kraków and Warsaw institution and run on tips. Say what it is for — handing money over silently reads as "keep the change".
The money
Poland uses the Polish Zloty (PLN). Today 1 GBP is 5.0546 PLN.
Tipping in other countries
Customs vary by region, by venue and over time. Use your judgement and your eyes.
