Customary: 5%–10%. Not expected but appreciated. Small notes are fine.
At restaurants
What is customary: Not expected — welcome, but nobody is counting
Worked example
On a ₫1,000,000 bill, 5% is ₫50,000, so you would hand over ₫1,050,000.
Tour guides
On a “free” walking tour, the tip is the fare: about ₫150,000 per person.
On a paid tour, 10% of the price on top.
Guides are tipped where waiters are not. Small notes, handed over at the end.

Vietnam uses the Vietnamese Dong (VND). Today 1 GBP is 35,173.37 VND.
