Tipping in Japan
Tipping is not customary. No tipping. Offering one can cause awkwardness — good service is the standard.

Tour guides
On a “free” walking tour, the tip is the fare: about ¥1,000 per person.
On a paid tour, nothing is expected.
Guides are the exception to Japan's no-tipping rule, and even then it goes in an envelope rather than into a hand. On a paid tour, nothing is expected.
The money
Japan uses the Japanese Yen (JPY). Today 1 GBP is 216.54 JPY.
